Wigan Athletic Supporters Club is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our Freight Rover Trophy win at Wembley in 1985.
The Annual Dinner is being held in the South Stand Suite of the DW Stadium on 19th March 2009 and is themed around our victory over Brentford by 3 goals to 1. Tickets will be on sale until Tuesday the 16th March 2010 and can be booked by ringing Spike on 07816 150 106.
Prices start from £30 for single seats and a discount of 10% will be given for full tables of ten being booked. Latics fought their way through five northern area games before eventually beating Mansfield Town on penalties in the Northern Area Final to reach Wembley and battle it out against Brentford.
It was a dream day for us as we swept our southern opponents away, winning 3-1 with Mike Newell, Tony Kelly and David Lowe on the score sheet. This Dinner has the makings of being a classic and shouldn’t be missed. The team will be at the dinner signing autographs, chatting to fans and will answer questions posed to them by Graham Beecroft of Talk Sport Radio fame. A reminder of the players you can expect to see are: Roy Tunks, Alex Cribley, John Butler, Tony Kelly, Steve Walsh, Colin Methven (c), David Lowe, Graham Barrow, Gary Bennett, Kevin Langley, Barry Knowles, Mike Newell and PaulCook.
The dinner will start around 7.30 p.m. with a three course meal and coffee, followed by a questions and answers session with the guest players and the night will go on til 1.00 a.m. All in all it promises to be yet another great evening with the Supporters Club and no worries of work next day.
Tickets are now on sale by calling in the Supporters Bar before the Aston Villa game or by ringing Spike on 07816 150 106. Prices start from £30 for single seats and a discount of 10% will be given for full tables of ten being booked. All tickets must be paid for up front and it will be a first come first serve basis.

After the postponement of the original Wigan Athletic Club Shop WN1 in Wigan town centre we will finally see N’Zogbia and Bramble do the honours on Thursday.
Meet Titus Bramble and Charles N’Zogbia at the Latics WN1 Club Store in the Galleries. From 1pm, Stripey, the club mascot, will also be around at the same time to welcome fans young and old, as well as overseeing the launch of his exclusive range of Laticat merchandise.
Located in the Galleries Shopping Centre, Latics WN1 is Wigan Athletic’s brand new retail outlet, offering a new source for all the official club merchandise, as well as offering some perfect Christmas ideas for the Latics fanatic in your life – plus you can buy match tickets too.
From 4.30pm – Chairman Dave Whelan will be in-store at Latics WN1 in Wigan town centre, to sign copies of his eagerly awaited autobiography ‘Playing To Win.’
For anyone proud of their Wigan heritage this book would make an excellent Christmas gift, and to have a signed copy would make it that extra-bit special!
Available in-store, the book is priced at £18.99 and all proceeds will go towards creating a new Wigan Boys & Girls Club, so that future generations of Wigan children can benefit from the same experiences Dave Whelan had as a boy.
