Joining and renewing is a simple process and can be done online by clicking the embership’ link above (click here if you can’t see it), or by turning up to the Supporters Club bar n the Robin Park arena before any League home game.

Want to be the face of Latics for ESPN?

July 24th, 2010 No comments

ESPN are looking for a passionate Wigan Athletic football fan, who wants to be the face of our football club for the new 2010/2011 season. They’re hoping to picture fans at work and in their natural environments, and therefore want a member of our supporters club (London based preferably) who would be interested in taking part?

They will visit your work place, picture you holding something in our sides colours (a football shirt, a scarf etc) and then in time for the new season the Wigan Athletic fan would be seen on the channel in the build up to live football matches.

An example of the kind of shots used last season is below, and I was wondering if someone within our Supporters Club might be interested in taking part in the campaign?  If so, please email me at info@wastc.co.uk and we will pass on your details to ESPN and they will call you back.

Interested parties must be based in London or the South East, and filming should start in the week commencing 2nd August 2010.

July 23rd, 2010 No comments

Hello, I would just like to give you a bit of information for Wigan Athletic’s visit to Marine on Saturday

There is a social club on site that you would be more than welcome in, although it is seperate to the ground and is found just off the club car park. It’s open well before the game, and there are also a few pubs within walking distance along with food outlets and a william hills bookmaker all within 5 minutes

Parking is available in many of the side streets but please try to avoid and drives, also please be aware parking outside the ground is limited to 1 hour and is traffic warden patrolled.

Once inside you can obtain hot food and drink and also we have a very large club shop stocking a great collection of past football programmes including Wigan which will all be out for your browsing along with many other league and non league issues prices very reasonable 50p for league and 20p for non league. I’m sure if you bought a few we could come up with a deal.

We also will have a souvenir of your visit with a club badge or even a scarf or pennant all monies from clubshop go back into the club so please help to support us on your visit.

To find both food hut and club shop just turn right as you hit ground perimiter and both are found in the left corner. If anyone has any surplus programmes you don’t want we would be only to happy to accept them as it all helps to keep our club going.

Here’s to a good game and good luck for the coming season, enjoy your visit and if ever you have a spare weekend please consider another visit.

London based Latics fans

July 8th, 2010 No comments

Due to a fair bit of disruption last season due to strikes, weather and such, Sky Sports ‘Fan Zone’ are looking for some London based Wigan Athletic Fans to fill in for doing commentary.

As the new season approaches Sky Sports are looking to add to their Premier League Fan Zoners with representatives based in London or close by to the Osterley studios.

Although it is hard to imagine with the sunny weather we are enjoying at the moment, last season Sky Sports had a number of problems getting commentators down to the Sky Studios, due to snow/ash clouds/BA strikes.

To avoid this in future they are trying to recruit commentators who can make the trip more easily. You will be used as often as the regionally-based commentators but you will also have the chance of bonus games when the bad weather hits.

If you want your name to be put forward, please email us at info@wastc.co.uk giving your name and a contact phone number, these will then be passed on to the relevant person at Sky, who will decide who to contact.

Re-arranged games for Wigan Athletic

July 6th, 2010 No comments

Our first home game of the season is the first to attract the TV cameras, as the Champions will be returning to the DW Stadium looking to replicate their result on the final day of the season, we will hopefully put in the same kind of performance that saw us beat them 3-1 in the same fixture last season. The game will now be played on Saturday the 21st at 5.15 p.m. instead of 3.00 p.m.

The second to move is the home game against Wolves, originally planned for Saturday the 2nd October it has been planned in for Monday the 4th October at 8.00 p.m., but this could well be moved back to the Saturday (probably at 12.45 p.m.) due to their being Internationals that week.

The final game to move will be the Liverpool game, as the Reds are playing on TV the previous Sunday our game is moved to the Wednesday 10th November instead of Tuesday the 9th. If there are any more changes we’ll let you know as soon as we can.
