N’Zogbia’s talks with Brum……..

August 27th, 2010 1 comment

Seem to be going badly. I have a mate in Birmingham that says Charlie is being pressurised by his agent to move, something similar as to when he seemed to go a bit daft at Newcastle.

Is there no way of getting these leaves out of football? They really are the scurge of the sport (even if this isn’t true).

I actually hope the rumour is true and he comes back and plays to his full potential as on his day he is World class, but when he doesn’t have his mind on the game he is not worth having.

Win exclusive tickets for an Evening with Paul Jewel.

August 26th, 2010 No comments

Paul Jewell is arguably the most successful, most popular and respected managers we have ever had, and he also did his bit as a player. In a one off night on the 17th September 2010, Haigh Hall have managed to get Paul to agree to an ‘Evening with Paul Jewell’, compared by Malcolm Lord.

This is the first time Latics fans will have the chance to ask those questions they always wanted answering, go into how he felt playing here and how hard it was to take a little club all the way to the highest echelons of English Football.

Tickets are reasonably priced at £26 for a four course meal and obviously the numbers are limited due the size of the room, but one thing is for certain, it will sell out. For ticket Sales please contact Haigh Hall on 01942 832895 or visit www.haighhall.info and don’t forget to mention you saw it on the Supporters Club website.

We should have raffled two tickets off at the home game against Chelsea, but due to circumstances beyond our control this didn’t happen. So, to win the two tickets to this exclusive night at Haigh Hall, please email answers to the following question by midday on Sunday the 29th August 2010:

Who was Paul Jewell’s assistant manager during his spell with Latics?

The email address is info@wastc.co.uk, good luck

N’Zogbia nominated for award

August 4th, 2010 No comments

N’ Zogbia will battle it out against rivals such as Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez for the title, voted for by supporters, at this year’s MBNA North West Football Awards.

Latics fans can vote for N’ Zogbia, who had a magnificent season for Wigan along with players from other divisions at www.nwfootballawards.co.uk, which has full details of the shortlist.

The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony, which takes place in October.  A panel of expert judges, including PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, will decide the winners in the other categories, acknowledging the off the pitch achievements of the North West’s clubs and celebrating the contribution that the region’s businesses make to the global football industry.

Gordon Taylor said: “It’s been another exciting year for North West football, with many of the season’s headlines made in the region and this year’s shortlist certainly reflects that.

“Even when the football clubs have seen mixed fortunes, the players on the list have proven their dedication, their hard work and their talent.

“It’ll be a big task for the judging panel to decide the winners of all the other awards as we understand that the calibre of entries is really high, so for the football-supporting public to take some of the pressure off us and choose the best players is fantastic.”

More than 450 VIP guests from the football and business world are expected to attend the awards, which was launched in 2007 and has become one of the highlights of the sporting season.

Chester-based MBNA, a subsidiary of the Bank of America, is the title sponsor of the event which takes place on 11 October 2010 at Lancashire County Cricket Club.  To vote for your player of the year, please visit www.nwfootballawards.co.uk.
